Inspiration Trust's takeover of Hewett School coverage

Hewett School in Norwich had a £430k deficit due to falling pupil numbers over nine years -(demographics and/or competition) and was put into Special Measures by Ofsted last year.

Financial concerns were raised that Inspiration would sell land attached to the school. The Eastern Daily Press reported: 'The Department for Education (DfE) also moved to address opponents concerns about handing over the Cecil Road site freehold to the Inspiration Trust by including a clause to transfer land to a charitable trust setting up a free school for children with autism, and strict rules about the use of the remaining land.'
