Tauheedul MAT's proposed 'flagship' opens as independent academy

From the Lancashire Telegraph: The school proposed as the 'flagship' of the fast-growing Tauheedul academy chain (Tauheedul Free Schools Trust) has opened as an independent academy.

The paper reported that parents had been told that joining Tauheedul would see the school 'benefit from a national network of support and development opportunities, along with improving educational standards.' But it said: 'Earlier this month, Hamid Patel, chief executive of Tauheedul Education, said the Buncer Lane school was ‘well capable’ of becoming a stand-alone academy.'

It had previously been reported that managing the school's PFI contracts would triple the usual transfer costs.
