72% of SBMs say they don't get a fair wage

The NAHT's survey of school business managers had 560 respondents, 20% of them from academies and free schools - page 7 has a chart showing the many roles in which they either lead or have some responsibility, including marketing and educational visits.

The  majority of respondents said their job title was school business managers but some had the titles of bursars and finance directors. School budgets ranged between £0.5m to £10m with data showing the higher the budget the higher the wage, except secondary school SBMs were paid more for similar sized budgets.

The survey said that 72 per cent of respondents felt they were not paid a fair salary for the work they do and work at least 45-hour weeks on 35-40 hour contracts with the vast majority saying their workload was increasing.
