Daily Mail quadruples size of Haberdashers' Aske's fraud and names suspect

The Daily Mail has claimed that an accountant called Samuel Kaymode has been told by the High Court to pay back £4.1 million to Haberdashers' Aske's - the paper said he had worked at the federation's Hatcham College since 1997.

The original newspaper report, based on a letter to parents, mentioned a figure lower than £1m. However large the fraud may have been the trust's academies may be interested in how the chain spread the costs of the fraud across its members.

The Mail said it had spoken to Paul Durgan, chief finance officer at Haberdashers' Aske's at the time, now working at another MAT.
