In addition to the high profile warning notice to Nottingham University Samworth Academy the DfE also published details of a warning letter - the stage beyond pre-warning - to Gloucester Academy (pointed out by the Independent)
After listing areas of improvement required, the letter said: 'Pursuant to Article 61(c), the Company must have implemented the necessary strategies to
my satisfaction by 15 January 2014. My representatives will assess the implementation of
these strategies and the impact and likely impact of these after this time.
Should the Company fail to comply, or secure compliance, with this warning notice to my
satisfaction within the compliance period, the Secretary of State shall consider exercising his
powers under Article 62 to appoint such Additional Directors (as defined in the Articles) to the
Company as he thinks fits.'
The school's sponsors (as noted on its website) include Prospect Education Services - managing director Vincent Mcdonnell - running five academies. (Local Schools Network gives some history: 'Prospects took on five more academies in autumn 2012'.)
The other sponsor is Gloucestershire College
