Barnfield Federation chooses to split from sponsor - minister to decide

The BBC has reported that the Barnfield Federation has chosen to split from its sponsor Barnfield College - two damning reports were published on the organisation in February.

A statement published on Barnfield Federation's website said neither the EFA or the Skills Funding Agency were involved in the decision: 'This decision was not taken lightly but only after several months of deliberation... We await a response from the government minister.'

The BBC reported: 'The Department for Education says a new sponsor will need to be found for the academies. The separation is expected to take effect in November.'

It also said that Judy Oliver has resigned from her post as acting chairman of the federation board and had initially wanted to keep the group together.
