Funding before academy status?

From The Journal:

Northumberland Prudhoe School wins DfE funding.

The Journal said: 'governors revealed they were considering seeking academy status – something which would take the school out of local authority control and sparked questions over whether the county council would stick to its funding pledge.'

The paper said: 'Now, Mr Gove has put an end to speculation and confirmed that the school will be rebuilt.'

The Journal said the county council had vowed to make up any shortfall in the rebuild costs - but this was thrown into doubt by its move to academy status (the school is in special measures).

I'm waiting to hear if it is still aiming to become an academy.

Are these more complex, expensive or problematic finances than a PFI school converting to academy status? Some issues discussed here by accountants http://www.education-advisors.com/resource/academy-conversion-does-being-a-pfi-school-raise-additional-issues/
