Academy's new teaching format needs new architecture

From the Northern Echo: 'pupils in each year group will have their own set of teachers and will spend most of their school day in the same few classrooms... Shelagh Potter, principal of Grangefield Academy said: 'It allows students to develop a greater sense of ownership about their school and to build strong relationships with the same teachers throughout their school career.'

The Grangefield Academy established in January is sponsored by the Northern Education Trust... sponsors a range of primary and secondary schools in the North-East North-West of England, including four other academies in Stockton.

The school has submitted plans to the council: 'If approval is granted, building work by Keir Group contractors is due to start later this year with the new academy expected to open its doors in September 2015.'
