NASBM: how much time academy heads spend on finance depends on context

There were no figures for academy heads in DfE survey about how teachers and heads split their time. The survey found that 12% of headteacher workload is spent dealing with 'school policy and financial planning'.

But fewer than 30 academy heads responded so there were no figures for the sector.

New School Finance asked NASBM - National Association of School Business Management -  if an academy head would be likely to spend more/less time on finance with an FD than their non-academy peers?

Stephen Morales Executive Director of NASBM said: Heads should be engaging in finance but never to the detriment on Teaching and Learning and always with the support of a trained professional SBM, FD or equivalent - as a percentage of their time it is very difficult to quantify and will be dependent on context.
