Coventry's first academy put in special measures

From the Coventry Telegraph: The Grace Academy, the first school in Coventry converted into a city academy, has gone into special measures after being declared inadequate by Ofsted.

The paper said: 'Woodway Park School switched in 2008 , (one of three academies) sponsored by super rich evangelical Christian businessman Lord Bob Edmiston as part of a small chain of Grace Academies.'

According to the paper Lord Edmiston said: 'We had a new headteacher with a different strategy and he assured us that the results were going to go up... so it came as a shock when they went down... We have taken some very strong action. Nick Marshall is no longer headteacher and we have a new headteacher, Colin Boxall. He is a former head of an outstanding school and has been involved in turnarounds before.

“We have enlisted the support of another outstanding school in Northamptonshire, the Sponne School, who are giving us 45 hours of outstanding of teaching time per half term.
