Free school with 350 competing for 120 places could be delayed

From Westend Extra: Parents are worried the council oppose Marylebone Boys school. The paper reported that council leader Philippa Roe claimed to support the school before adding: 'I should also highlight the fact that the council’s own Schools Organisation and Investment Plan indicates that a new secondary school is not required to meet current and projected levels of need in the borough until at least 2020.'

James van Bregt, who is leading a group of parents told the paper: 'The top choice in our [school] application, Paddington Academy, was 4.1 times oversubscribed, while MBS, without a building or track record, was more than three times oversubscribed.'

The paper said: 'If a site is not secured it is believed (Headteacher Richard Ardron)has been guaranteed two terms’ pay by the DfE. His salary has not been made public but he is leaving Isleworth and Syon Boys’ School where he is a deputy head and thought to receive between £70,000 and £80,000 a year.
