Muslim school that failed free school application is now fee paying

From the Stoke Sentinel: http://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/North-Road-Academy-s-journey-success/story-20403935-detail/story.html

"The original plan was to open it as a state-funded free school, but this failed to win Government backing due to refurbishment costs. The owners – who bought the site off the council – funded work themselves and have transformed the old classrooms. The primary is funded through the £2,000-a-year fees charged to parents, with some pupils qualifying for sponsored places."

The Sentinel also said: "A separate bid by community leaders in Longton and Normacot to create a Muslim free school for 11 to 16-year-olds was recently turned down. It could have opened on the old Edensor Technology College site."
