Strike threat over 'zero hour contracts' at Islington academy

From the Islington Tribune: http://www.islingtontribune.com/news/2014/jan/row-over-union-rights-stem-academy-teachers-consider-strike-action-flagship-free-schoo

'Teachers at the STEM sixth form academy in City Road are balloting for strike action after principal John O’Shea refused to recognise the National Union of Teachers.

'They say they have been forced to sign what amount to zero hours contracts “under duress”.

The educationist Tony Sewell – who is chairman of governors – told the Tribune that the dispute was “none of the union’s business” and everything they are doing is legal.
