Steiner free school faces opposition in county with 12% surplus places

'Steiner Academy Five Valleys, proposed by Stroud Steiner Free School Initiative, has applied for funding for the free school, which will accommodate 600 students and hopes to open in September 2015.


'Gloucestershire County Council has confirmed that 12% of the 10,000 primary school places in the Stroud district are currently surplus.



'There are 319 surplus secondary places in Stroud district, with a school roll of almost 7,000 secondary age children.' (That's around 4.5 per cent)
