Successful primary closed to make way for free school

From Left Foot Forward: http://www.leftfootforward.org/2014/01/tory-council-to-close-award-winning-primary-so-a-free-school-can-have-its-land/

The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham has ordered the closure of a top-performing state school so that a Church of England secondary free school for boys can take its land.

Sulivan Primary, a local authority school which this year ranked 233rd out of 15,000 primaries in England will be closed and the land will go to Fulham Boys School.'

The piece in Left Foot Forward said: 'The fact that Sulivan pupils would be transferred to New Kings thus ‘freeing up’ Sulivan’s land for the free school was merely an ‘added benefit’ of the proposal; the Council has repeatedly insisted that this was not a factor in the decision.'
